A farmer from Bagamanoc town finally fell into the local police’s hands last wek after eluding arrest for allegedly raping a minor in February this year.
Joint elements of the Bagamanoc police, and the 1st and 2nd companies of the Catanduanes Police Mobile Force apprehended the suspect, identified only as “Onyo”, in barangay Poblacion last Oct. 12, 2021 at 8 PM.
According to the report of town police chief Lt. Marissa Macabeo, the suspect was served with the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 42 in connection with Criminal Xase No. 8040 for rape.
Named by a source as one Mariano Fernandez Jr., the suspect who is a resident of Hinipaan was charged for raping a 16-year old girl in February this year.
Police records also show that the suspect had been accused of raping a 19-year old girl in Pandan town in 2016.
Fernandez, who is the Number 10 Most Wanted Person in Catanduanes, is now being held without bail pending his trial.
Lt. Macabeo assured the citizens that the police will give appropriate assistance to the young victim to ensure that the suspect will be sentenced accordingly.
