Mayor Aly T. Romano of San Andres and Manila-based lawyer Atty. Dexter A. Francisco were recently recognized for their contributions to public service during the Gawad Pilipino: Duyan Ka ng Magiting Awards 2026 held at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Commissioned Officers Clubhouse in Camp Aguinaldo.
The award was conferred as part of the country’s celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day and honored individuals whose dedication and service contributed to community welfare, responsible citizenship, and nation-building.
The awardees were individuals from various sectors, including business, media, government and public service-whose contributions have significantly advanced the nation’s growth, freedom and progress, Gawad Pilipino CEO/President Dr. Danilo B. Mangahas said.
“The Duyan Ka ng Mahgiting Awards is a tribute to those whose dedication and excellence uplift communities, strengthen institutions and inspire national pride,” he added.
Mayor Romano’s award described him as “Natatanging Pilipino sa Larangan ng Paglilingkod dsa Tao at sa Bayan.”
Atty, Francisco was honored for bring a “Natatanging Pilipino sa Larangan ng Pagtataguyod ng mga Karapatan at Katarungan.”
