SIX UNITS OF ARTIFICIAL REEFS

SIX UNITS OF ARTIFICIAL REEFS have been installed by a dive team from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR V) in the 44-foot deep waters about 160 meters from the shoreline of sitio Mamangal in Balite, Virac last May 30, 2024, under Project Gasang launched by the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (PSO-NHS) Bicol ENT Specialists (BEST) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Virac and BFAR. Mayor Samuel Laynes expressed his sincerest gratitude to the PSO-NHS led by Bicol Chapter President, Dr. Manuelito Reyes for this initiative to provide a supplemental habitat for reef fishes and other marine flora and fauna.                   Virac LGU photo
