Two fugitives from Catanduanes facing a combined 12 counts of rape before the Regional Trial Court in Virac have been arrested in Legazpi City and Bataan province recently.
Last Jan. 31, 2020 at around 6:55 P.M., the No. 7 Most Wanted Person of San Andres town was apprehended in Legazpi City by joint elements of San Andres police and the Legazpi City police station at Ems Barrio in Barangay 3.
Gil Sontillano Soneja, a widower formerly of Salvacion, San Andres, had been on the run from the law since he was charged before the sale of RTC Branch 43 Presiding Judge Lelu P. Contreras for 10 counts rape docketed under Criminal Case Nos. 6104 to 6113 with no bail recommended.
Eight days earlier, Viga town’s No. 1 MWP was arrested in Morong, Bataan by elements of the Viga police station led by PCMS Ronnie Agawin together with personnel of Morong police station.
Arrested last Jan. 23, 2020 at Purok 1, Samuyaw, Mabayo in Morong town on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by RTC Branch 43 was fisherman Diosdado Corral Omayan, 57, who has been accused of two counts of rape with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, a 40-year old laborer was arrested for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition last Jan. 25, 2020 in Bato town.
Armed with a search warrant issued by RTC Branch 42 Presiding Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada, personnel of the Bato police station and the Catanduanes 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) led by Lt. Francis Tabo I combed the house of Ronnie Padua Tubiera at barangay San Roque sometime after 5 A.M.
The search turned up a live ammunition for Cal. 45 attached to a string, 11 rounds of M16 ammunition, and an airgun.
The police are now preparing charges against Tubiera for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive firearms and ammunition Regulation Act).
