Motorist dies in highway mishap

A construction worker reportedly died after crashing into a road construction project in Marinawa, Bato last week.

Investigation by the Bato police who responded to the scene stated that the driver, Manuel Aldave Tesorero, 39, a resident of barangay San Pedro, Bato, was on board his black motorcycle with a temporary plate number from Virac to Bato when he ran into the pole barricade of the road reblocking project along the national highway at 2:48 A.M. of Jan. 27, 2020.

Tesorero fell to the ground and sustained a head injury. The police coordinated with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Emergency Rescue Unit which brought the victim to the Eastern Bicol Medical Center where he reportedly succumbed to his injuries.

In another development, an abaca stripper has been arrested in Pandan town after he was caught in possession of a stolen motorcycle by the owner himself.

The report said registered nurse Saul Sanchez, a resident of Libod, was near the Caramoran cockpit at around 6 P.M. of Jan. 26, 2020 when he chanced upon his motorcycle, a red Honda Wave 100 with plate number 4112 ES, being driven by the suspect.

Sanchez immediately pursued the suspect, identified as Reymond Palero Abines, 21, of Sabangan, Caramoran, and apprehended him.

Verification made by the Pandan police confirmed that the motorcycle was indeed the one reported missing by Sanchez on Dec. 24, 2019 while parked inside the compound of the St. Ignatius de Loyola church in Pandan.
