
Virac buy-bust nets electronic technician
Operatives of the Virac Municipal Police Station arrested an electronic technician in a buy-bust operation last April 6, 2026 that also led to the confiscation of four sachets of suspected shabu.
The target, identified as one Alfredo Collantes Talion, 28, and a resident of Capilihan, was handcuffed after selling one of the sachets to a police officer masquerading as a buyer.
In the subsequent search conducted by the team led by police chief PMaj. Kenneth Ding C. Gutierrez, along with elements of the Catanduanes Police Intelligence Unit (CATPIU), Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU), and the Philippine Dru Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional office, found three (3) more sachets of the drug.
The sachets contained white crystalline granules believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride with an estimated total weight of 3.0 grams and street value of P20,400.00.
Also seized as evidence were a genuine P500 bill, a counterfeit P500 bill, a Vivo smart phone, a tricycle, a folded piece of white paper, and two pieces of heat-sealed black rubber tube.
Talion is in police custody pending the filing of twin criminal cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 for the sale and possession of dangerous drugs.
Pandan man caught practicing dentistry without license
A 35-year-old native of Pandan town was caught in the act of practicing dentistry without a license last week in Sta. Elena, Virac;
Personnel of the Catanduanes Provincial Cybercrime Response Team led by PCapt. Angelo Babagay launched the entrapment operation against the suspect after it was learned that he has been offering his services in posts on social media.
According to the police, the suspect worked as a dental assistant in Metro Manila and began rendering dental services for a fee at a boarding house which he used as an improvised clinic during the past year since he came back from the metropolis.
The report also stated that he had been performing dental procedures in other towns during the period.
A number of dental instruments, materials, electronic devices and marked money were confiscated as evidence during the operation.
He was placed under custody of the Virac police station pending the filing of criminal charges for violation of Section 33(a) of Republic Act 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007, in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Practicing dentistry without a license could result in imprisonment ranging from two to five years and fines ranging from P20,000 to P200,000.
Virac’s No. 1 Most Wanted Person arrested
Joint elements of the Virac MPS intelligence unit, together with the CatPIU and the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT) apprehended the town’s #1 Most Wanted Person last April 8, 2026 in Salvacion.
The 56-year-old suspect, whose name was withheld by the police, is wanted on a non-bailable criminal charge for violation of Sec. 5 of RA 9165, for the sale of dangerous drugs docketed under Criminal Case No. 11860 at the Regional Trial Court Branch 43.
