UNFAIRLY BLAMED

UNFAIRLY BLAMED for polluting Gogon river, the Virac Town Center (VTC) management has sought the assistance of Gogon Sirangan barangay council over construction waste materials, including gloves, empty sacks and excess cement being left within or near the river by workers of the mainland-based company undertaking the P99 million river control project. It said that such materials, if not properly collected and disposed of, may potentially affect the condition of the river and the surrounding environment. VTC asked the council to coordinate with the contractor to ensure that all construction waste materials are properly managed and disposed of in accordance with existing environmental regulations and proper waste management practices. The VTC management submitted as evidence a video and photos of the said waste materials floating or left in the river beside the mall.
