298 individuals receive P4.28-M in livelihood grants from DSWD

A total of P4.285 million in financial assistance was paid out by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to 298 recipients from nine towns of the province recently.

The recipients as well as total amounts released per municipality are as follows: Virac – 97 (P1,425,000); Viga – 32 (P475,000); Gigmoto – 21 (P310,000); San Andres – 65 (P970,000); Baras – 8 (P115,000); Bagamanoc – 30 (P450,000); Bato – 4 (P60,000); Panganiban – 21 (P315,000); and San Miguel – 11 (P165,000).

The grants were given under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) at the Capitol Dome last Oct. 20, 2024, with Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza advising the recipients to use the assistance in accordance with DSWD guidelines.

The program seeks to enhance the economic well-being of local communities, with the funds intended to directly support the livelihood projects presented by the recipients.

The DSWD reminded the grantees that the livelihood grants cannot be divided among individuals, lent to others, or used for daily necessities. Furthermore, any spending on gambling, alcohol, or other addictions is strictly prohibited to ensure the intended use of the funds contributes positively to the community.

This stringent reminder ensures the grants are used as intended: to foster sustainable economic growth and provide essential support to those in need.
