We apologize for the late release of the Sept. 4, 2024 issue of the Tribune.
The printing machine, which is probably as old as this writer, needed immediate repair of a key part in a shop somewhere in Metro Manila and the work was delayed by flooding brought by “Enteng.”
When the part arrived Saturday noon and installed, printing of the issue began sometime that afternoon and eventually finished by Sunday 5PM.

The DILG recently issued Memorandum Circular No. 2024-128 reminding local officials concerned on the mandatory membership ex ex-officio member in the Local Special Bodies (LSBs) of the duly elected president of the Pederasyon ng Sangguniang Kabataan at all levels.
This is mandated by Section 22 (a) and (b) of Republic Act 10742 or the SK Reform Act, as amended by RA 11768, Sec. Benjamin Abalos Jr. said.
Pursuant to the provisions, the president of the SK federation at all levels shall be the chairperson of the Committee on Youth and Sports Development and a regular member of the Committees on Education, Environment, Employment and Livelihood, Health and Anti-Drug Abuse, and Gender and Development.
In addition to these, he or she shall also serve as ex-officio member of the Local School Board, Local Council for the Protection of Children, Local Development Council, Local Health Board, Local Tourism Council, and Local Peace and Order Council, the memo stated.
According to the DILG chief, among the issues and concerns raised during the National-Regional Consultative Meeting was the non-inclusion of the SK Federation president as ex-officio member of the said LSBs.
Atty. Abalos urged local chief executives to ensure compliance with the provisions and formulate or amend their Executive Orders on the creation or organization of the LSBs to ensure inclusion of the SK Federation president.
This would make the SKF presidents one of the busiest legislators in local governance.

THE CANDIDATE. Thinking that their presidential candidate needed to show a more human side of himself and improve his popularity, his committee advised him to visit an old age home and chat with the residents.
The candidate walked into the room of an old kind looking man. With the cameras whirring, the nominee was surprised when the old man smiled at him and offered him some peanuts from a bowl on the table. “Thank you”, said the nominee. He took a few and ate them.
After being offered more for the 3rd time the candidate asked the kind old fellow, “Why don’t you have some with me?”
“Oh, no thank you,“ the old fellow replied. “I can’t eat them. I don’t have any teeth.”
“So why do you have them?” asked the candidate.
“Oh, I like the chocolate around it.” he replied.
