The victim was driving a Yamaha Mio scooter (262EDL) from the capital town at around 10:10 PM and was passing the boundary marker in barangay Marinawa when he evaded the uneven pavement on the right lane and encroached on the left lane.

As a result, it crashed into another motorcycle, a Suzuki Raider (768EVN) driven by microfinance collector Jovert Tindugan Abiar, 37, a resident of Balatohan, San Miguel, who was on his way to Virac.

Both drivers and their vehicles crashed to the pavement, causing injuries to the two men who were rushed by responding elements of the Bato police and a rescue team to the Eastern Bicol Medical Center for medical attention.

Gianan, however, reportedly died from severe loss of blood at 10 AM the following day.

A police source told the Tribune that he was not wearing a safety helmet at the time he was driving and sustained serious injury to his head.
