Tempers flared in a Virac barangay over an unanswered question, with the dispute between three men resulting in the fatal stabbing of a Calatagan Tibang resident.
According to the police, the suspect, Solomon Tabuzo Jr., initially quarreled with a man called “Onyok” whom he asked as to his identity sometime at 11 P.M. of June 1 in barangay Danicop.
When “Onyok” failed to answer, it was Mark Anthony Tumpang, 21, a resident of Calatagan Tibang, who responded by launching a punch at Tabuzo, resulting in a heated argument between them.
Tabuzo chased Tumpang and when he got close, used a piece of wood to hit the victim several times before stabbing him with a bladed weapon.
The suspect fled after the incident while the victim was brought to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
A hot-pursuit operation was mounted by the Virac police to arrest the suspect, who subsequently surrendered to Danicop barangay captain Raymond Valeza at 5:30 A.M. the following day. He was turned over to responding police personnel.
Meanwhile, three women were arrested in a police raid on a known gambling den in Rawis, Virac last week.
Law enforcers confiscated a set of playing cards and bet money amounting to P195 from Jasmine Gardon Manlangit, 48, of Francia, Claire Morales Flores, 25, and April Avila Francisco, 60, both of Rawis, who were caught in the act of playing “tong-its.”
They will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree PD 1602.
