The Philippine Statistics Authority has begun conducting the April 2020 Labor Force Survey (LFS).
The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households that gathers data on the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the population. The survey seeks to provide a quantitative framework in the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market. It will also provide statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment in the country and regions.
An additional survey for this round is the Consumer Rapid Assessment, being conducted by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) on behalf of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) – Technical Working Group (TWG) on Anticipatory and Forward Planning. This survey will serve as a basis for the TWG to assess the impact of COVID-19 and Enhanced Community Quarantine and draft appropriate policy recommendations that will help stimulate the economy and adapt to the “new normal” of economic activity.
Thirty-three (33) sample barangays with three hundred eighty-five (385) sample households will be interviewed in the province by Statistical Researchers from 20 April 2020 and will last until 15 May 2020.
The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the survey emanates from Republic Act 10625. Like any other surveys undertaken by the PSA, the data to be gathered in the said survey are for statistical purposes only and will be published in summary forms. Information obtained from the respondents are held STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and are not used for investigation, taxation and law enforcement purposes and are not be divulged to any person except authorized PSA personnel acting in the performance of their duties.
