6 arrested for illegal activities in Virac, Baras and Bato

Police authorities in Virac, Baras and Bato towns apprehended six persons in separate operations against illegal activities on just one day of last week, while the Viga police caught its No. 4 Most Wanted Person.

First to fall into their hands were three abaca strippers who were spotted playing “tong-its” card game in barangay Agban, Baras at 12:10 P.M. of Jan. 12, 2020.

The Baras police arrested Reymart Tanael, 26, Jay Tuplano, 26, and Ruel Templonuevo, 33, who yielded a set of playing cards and the bet money.

At 3:45 P.M. in Sogod Tibgao, Virac, personnel of 1st Catanduanes Provincial Mobile Force Company (CATPMFC) led by force commander Maj. Jerome Regachuelo collared construction worker Bernard Tajan, 28, a resident of Sto. Niño, who was caught in the act transporting nine (9) pieces of assorted sizes of undocumented sawn lumber with an estimated volume of 72 board feet and an estimated market value of P5,700.00.

Just two hours later in San Roque, Viga, the town police personnel led by officer-in-charge Lt Rodel Villegas, apprehended Number 4 Municipal Most Wanted Person (MMWP) of Viga, laborer Roel Tojon, 29, by virtue of the arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 42 Presiding Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada, for the crime of rape docketed under Criminal Case NO. 3485 with no bail recommended.

Just before midnight at 11:40 P.M., two Bato fishermen, Vernie Fernandez Bonaobra, 40, and Julius Dugan Celon, 25, both residents of Cabugao, were caught in the act of using fine mesh net for fishing. The police led by Pat. Kristoffer Dan Garcia confiscated from the suspects a 10-meter long fine mesh net, assorted fish and shrimp and other fishing paraphernalia.

Appropriate charges are being prepared for filing against those arrested for violation of the special laws.
