Pandan fisherman stabbed to death after attending Santacruzan dance

Scene-of-the-crime operatives were dispatched to Pandan town last Sunday, May 31, 2026, to look into the gruesome death of a fisherman whose body was found riddled with stab wounds that morning.

A sketchy report sent by the Pandan Municipal Police Station stated that the body of Reymark Bermejo Cantar, 25, a resident of barangay Lumabao, was discovered at 8 AM in a grassy area near the elementary school at sitio Carabao in barangay Balogñonan.

Information regarding the incident was forwarded by Vice Mayor Eric T. Rodriguez to the police, with a team led by Acting Chief of Police PCpt. Renee R. Albao immediately proceeding to the location to conduct an investigation.

Residents and witnesses told the police that the victim and his wife had attended a benefit dance at the area following the celebration of the Santacruzan, with Cantar engaging in a drinking spree with other attendees from 5 PM of Saturday until about 2:30 AM the next morning when he decided to go home.

Personnel from the Provincial Forensic Unit were quoted as saying that the victim sustained numerous stab wounds on different parts of his body, along with a deep laceration on his neck.

The police also recovered the victim’s personal belongings at the crime scene and turned there over to his family.
