The Catanduanes police, particularly the officers, have been busy since Provincial Director PCol. Edward D. Quijano took over the post.
Last week, Deputy Regional Director for Operations PCol. Roque Bausa represented RD PBGen. Andre Perez Dizon in the launching of the provincial police’s Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU), the Tourist Oriented Police Community Order and Protection (TOPCOP) and the C.A.R.A. (Caring, Adaptive, Responsive and Arm of the Law) Bikers.
Composed of 30 police officers, the TMRU will be deployed during peak hours in strategic areas throughout the province, with the presence on main throughfares to counter street crimes, including those perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects, while intensifying law enforcement operations, anti-criminality campaigns and public safety services.
On the other hand, the 48-member TOPCOP unit will focus on maximizing police presence in accredited tourist destinations within the island and ensure the safety and security of tourists while helping maintain peace and order among the general populace.
Bike patrols will be the responsibility of the 13-person CARA Bikers in enhancing police visibility and community engagement, thus fostering the PNP’s longstanding commitment to crime prevention. The initiative also aims to inspire and motivate the community to improve their mental and physical strength through biking.
Also launched during the Oct. 2, 2024 event was the CatPPO motorpool beside the shooting range. Began in February 2022, construction of the facility was completed last July, 2024, with four personnel already trained in the maintenance and repair of police vehicles, thereby ensuring their safety and operability in the provincial police’s duty of serving and protecting the public.

THE FAMOUS MAN. One day, a famous man went to a nursing home to see all of his friends again and see how there were doing.
When he got there everybody greeted him because, of course, everybody knows him.
One man he noticed didn’t come up to him or say anything to him.
So later he walked up to the man and asked him “Do you know who I am?”
And the old man replied “No, but you can go to the front desk and they’ll tell you.”
