Combined elements of three police units arrested an abaca stripper in Viga after a court-ordered search yielded a loaded gun in his possession.
According to the report, operatives of the Viga police station led by officer-in-charge Lt. Alex Alcantara, together with elements of Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Catanduanes 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company served a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada on a certain “Mack” for violation of Sec. 28 (a) of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act at 4:56 AM of Oct. 14, 2022 in San Jose (Oco).
The operation led to the confiscation of a Cal. 38 revolver without serial number and loaded with three bullets from the 27-year-old abaca stripper.
Two barangay officials served as witnesses while the police had body-worn cameras during the entire operation in compliance with Supreme Court Administrative Matter No. 21-06-08-SC (Rules on the Use of Body-Worn Cameras in the Execution of Warrants).
A complaint has already been filed against him before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
