Abaca stripper nabbed for raping minor in Gigmoto

Gigmoto police operatives and personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Team-Catanduanes last week arrested an abaca stripper, included in the list of wanted persons in the municipality, for allegedly raping a teenaged girl recently.

Armed with a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, the lawmen apprehended Anthony Robles, 35, in barangay District II, last Feb. 9, 2022 at 12:40 PM.

The accused is facing two counts of non-bailable rape before the sala of then RTC Branch 43 Presiding Judge Lelu P. Contreras as well as another criminal charge for lascivious conduct in relation to Section 5 (b) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, for which bail has been granted at P200,000.

Gigmoto MPS chief PLt. Heraclio Vargas said the police is determined to apprehend all those on the wanted list to give justice to all their victims.

He assured the public that the police station is always open to provide needed assistance to victims of sexual or physical abuse in coordination with the other agencies and departments of the government.
