The executive officer of the barangay tanod brigade in a Virac barangay who was arrested last week for possession of dangerous drugs turned out to be a beneficiary of government doleouts under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
In its report, the Virac police station confirmed that Ariel Benavidez, 46, the chief tanod of Palnab del Sur working as a painter, was nabbed last March 17, 2021 after designated searchers found 22 sachets of shabu inside his residence.
The search was covered by a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 42 Presiding Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada.
Joint elements of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Virac police, Catanduanes Police Intelligence Unit, and the Catanduanes 1st Mobile Force Company led by Lt. Carlo Lita and under the supervision of police chief Maj. Antonio Perez conducted the anti-illegal drug operation.
It is claimed that Benavidez is classified as a Level 1 High-Value Individual in the anti-drug campaign.
