Ex-NPA leader here nabbed in Laguna

A former commander of the New People’s Army in Catanduanes who had been listed as the number one most wanted person in the province has been arrested in Laguna.

Collared inside the Jollibee Turbina branch in Calamba, Laguna last March 7, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. was Bartolome Mendoza, also known to the authorities as “Bartolome Batalla,” ”Richard Neri Lodronio,” and “Ka Bart”, 41, a native Salvacion, Ragay, Camarines Sur and resident of B12 L02 Phase 5 Mabuhay City, Brgy. Mamatid, Cabuyao City, Laguna.

He is reportedly as the former Secretary/commander of the Nerissa San Juan Command of KSS1/KSS2 operating in Catanduanes and believed responsible for several attacks and ambuscades on government troops and police personnel in the island in the past.

He was apprehended by joint personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Grouo (CIDG) Catanduanes provincial field unit as lead unit, CIDG Regional Field Unit-5, CIDG Albay, CIDG-RFU in Region 4A, the 83rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, 97 Military Intelligence Coordinating Office, Regional Intelligence Unit-5; Regional Special Operations Group of PRO-5, Provincial Intelligence Unit of Catanduanes PPO, the 1st and 2nd Police Mobile Force Company, Virac Municipal Police Station, Regional Special Operations Unit-4A and the Calamba City Police Station.

The arrest was covered by an alias warrant issued by Judge Genie G Gapas-Agbada of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 42, Virac, Catanduanes in connection with Criminal Case No. 3467 for Frustrated Murder with Direct Assault with Php100,000.00 bail recommended, Criminal Case No. 3466 for Murder with Direct Assault with no bail recommended, Criminal Case No. 3106 for Murder with Direct Assault with no bail recommended; Criminal Case No. 3107 for Murder with Direct Assault with no bail recommended, and Criminal Case No. 3108 for Robbery with no bail recommended.
