A total of 10 sachets of suspected shabu were seized from a 39-year old jobless man who was entrapped in a buy-bust operation conducted by combined units of the Philippine National Police in Rawis, Virac last week.
Elements of the Virac Municipal Police Station, Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit, Catanduanes 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit headed by Lt. Carlo Lita apprehended the suspect, which it identified only as “Ali,” at 4:50 p.m. of Feb. 15, 2021 along the road near the Virac Sports Center.
A source from the Catanduanes Island Media Club named the suspect as Leanard Jeffrey Avila, who yielded the sachet of shabu offered for sale to the poseur-buyer and nine more wrapped in a facemask found in his possession.
The police report also stated that the suspect is included in the Recalibrated Priority Database on Illegal Drugs of the province.
He was detained at the Virac police jail pending the filing of criminal charges for the sale and possession of illegal drugs in violation of Republic Act 9165.
