Abaca stripper caught with P1.8-M loot from robbery

San Miguel police personnel arrested at the port of Virac an abaca stripper who yielded P1.8 million in cash he had stolen from a businesswoman last week.

Erwin Geromo Ralla, 35, became the object of a hot pursuit after he was tagged as the prime suspect in the robbery that took place at the house of Vevian Edar Almanza, 34, in barangay Boton sometime before the crime was discovered at 11:30 A.M. of March 10, 2020. The victim said the unidentified suspect took her cash amounting to about P2.2 million.

SUSPECTED ROBBER Erwin Ralla’s mugshot is taken by the San Miguel police following his arrest at the Virac port an hour before the ferry was to sail to Tabaco City. His backpack yielded P1.8-million cash in bundles believed to have been taken from a businesswoman’s home.

Ralla, also a Boton resident and son of one of the caretakers at the piggery owned by the victim, was suspected of involvement in the robbery after he was seen in the area the night before Almanza found out that her cash was missing.

The police immediately went to the Virac port where they arrested the suspect and recovered a backpack containing wads of money amounting to P1,801,980. Ralla will be charged with robbery before the Provincial Prosecutors Office.
