Around 840 beneficiaries from the vulnerable sectors in different municipalities of Bicol Region will benefit from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) through the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay – Cash-for-Work Program (KKB-CFWP) this 2026.
The modality aims to engage 470 Persons with Disabilities and 370 students from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), providing temporary employment opportunities while supporting community development activities.
One hundred beneficiaries from Viga are included in the CFWP for Persons with Disabilities while an undetermined number of students from the Catanduanes State University will be engaged in community service and development work while receiving financial assistance.
The Cash-for-Work Program provides short-term financial assistance to economically disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in exchange for completing agreed-upon work, services, or tasks.
For the Bicol Region, 47 caregivers from the 470 beneficiaries of Persons with Disabilities in the aforementioned municipalities will be engaged in the 20-day period with four (4) hours of work per day.
On the other hand, the remaining 423 beneficiaries will be working for 10 days for eight (8) hours a day.
Each beneficiary under CFWP for Persons with Disabilities will receive PHP 4,350.00.
Meanwhile, the 370 beneficiaries of CFWP for HEIs will be employed for 25 days, with each beneficiary receiving PHP 10,875.00 upon completion of the program.
To ensure that the program reaches those who need it most, only one (1) legally aged member from each family belonging to economically poor and vulnerable communities or sectors shall be eligible to participate through the initial list submitted by the Local Government Unit (LGU).
Furthermore, beneficiaries must not be recipients of a similar Cash-for-Work intervention being implemented by the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Bureau or Division, in adherence to the non-duplication of assistance policy.
