Virac laborer caught in shabu sting operation

A 33-year-old laborer from Buyo, Virac was arrested last week after selling a sachet of shabu to a police officer masquerading as a buyer, the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office reported.

The suspect was identified as Mariano Suliman Tria Jr., who yielded one more sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu as well as the buy-bust money consisting of one genuine P500 bills and a copy of the same bill.

Intel operatives of the Virac municipal police station led by PCMS Ruel B. Adille, under the direct supervision of police chief PMaj. Kenneth Ding C. Gutierrez, coordinated with the PDEA regional office in conducting the drug buy-bust operation along the national highway in Calatagan Proper last Nov. 25, 2025 at 3:40 PM.

The police also confiscated as evidence a red and black Rusi motorcycle with plate number 572ENJ used by the suspect.

He will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 for possession and sale of dangerous drugs.

ALONG THE BUSY HIGHWAY, a drug buy-bust operation mounted by the Virac police caught a laborer from Buyo who yielded two sachets of suspected shabu last Nov. 25, 2025.
