Elements of two police units caught six persons in the act of engaging in illegal cockfighting or “tupada” in San Miguel town last week.
The report identified the suspects as abaca strippers Oscar Tuazon Padilla, 66, and Ejeno Alavin Goeta, 55, Eddie Tano Tesorero, 69, barangay kagawad Niel Torcelino Padilla, 39, Alfredo Teresas Odi, and Joseph Mendoza Teanila, 50. Except for Teanila who is from Oguis, Bato, the other five are all from Kilikilihan.
Intelligence personnel of the San Miguel police station and elements of the Catanduanes 1st Police Mobile Force Company swooped down on the cockfighting site in the riverside village at 12:55 PM of Aug. 22, 2025 and arrested the suspects who were not able to run away.
Other evaded arrest and scampered towards different directions as soon as they caught sight of the police.
Recovered from the suspects were two fighting cocks, six gaff cases with assorted cockfighting paraphernalia, three notebooks and cash money.
They will be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1602.
