A female food vendor was apprehended by the police in barangay Buyo, Virac in a sting operation last week after she handed over a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.
Joint elements of the Virac police station as lead unit, together with personnel from the Catanduanes Police Intelligence Unit (CATPIU) and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) led by PEMS Louie Garcia arrested Cindy Aras Rosales, 45, a resident of Purok 1, San Vicente St. at 6:59 PM of Aug. 22, 2025.
The team confiscated as evidence a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, a genuine P500 bill and three fake P500 bills used as “boodle” money.
She was taken into custody by the Virac police pending the filing of a criminal charge for violation of Secton 5 of Republic Act 9165 for the sale of dangerous drugs while the seized suspected drug item was subjected to laboratory examination.
PMaj. Kenneth Ding Gutierrez, the Virac police chief, called on citizens to directly inform the police of any information related to the sale and use of illegal drugs so that they could take appropriate action.
He warned those involved in illegal drugs that they will be made to answer for their violations of law even as the police continues to heighten its campaign against illegal activities in the capital town.
