Joint elements of the local police and intelligence units arrested a garbage collector in Virac in an anti-illegal drug operation last Saturday evening.
Angelo Zuniega, 33, a resident of barangay Concepcion, was caught at 11:45 PM of July 12, 2025 in Purok 2 at the road along the river after selling shabu to a police officer masquerading as a buyer.
The law enforcers from the Virac MPS together with the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 5 (RPDEU 5) and Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit (CatPIU) confiscated from the suspect a sealed plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu that was sold to the poseur buyer, a similar sachet with suspected shabu found inside the right side pockets of the suspect’s shorts along with the genuine P500 bill and three fake P500 bills used as buy-bust money.
Present during the inventory were mandatory witnesses barangay kagawad Froilan Mendoza of Sta. Cruz and National Prosecution Service representative Alma Zafe.
The garbage collector is now in custody of the police station pending the filing of criminal charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 for sale and possession of dangerous drugs.
