Joint elements of three police units nabbed an unemployed resident of Virac in an anti-illegal drug operation last Wednesday.
Sean Condrad Casamayor Vargas, 22, a resident of barangay Lanao, was arrested by personnel of the Virac police station, Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit (CATPIU) and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) after handing over a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer in exchange for money at 11:10 PM of May 28, 2025 in the village.
Also seized as evidence were a genuine P1,000 bill and 14 bogus P1,000 bills used as buy-bust money and two P20 bills.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2003.
Just hours earlier, a woman was caught selling an undocumented chainsaw in an entrapment operation conducted by three police units from Catanduanes and Camarines Sur.
Rusiane Traqueña Arcilla, 29, a housewife from Binanuahan, Bato, was arrested at the pier site in Salvacion, Virac after selling the chainsaw to a police poseur buyer at 7 PM of May 28.
Joint elements of the Catanduanes Provincial Crime Response Team (PCRT), the Camarines Sur PCRT led by Capt. Angelo A. Babagay, and Virac Municipal Police Station led by Capt. Renee R. Albao, under the overall supervision of Lt. Col. Gilbert E. Remo, officer-in-charge of the Regional Anti-Crime Unit 5, collared the suspect.
The operation was initiated after a cyber-patrolling activity discovered that the suspect has posted for sale a chainsaw for P10,000 on Facebook’s Market Place, with a member of the operating team acting as poseur buyer and transacted the sale with her.
During the actual meet-up, the suspect failed to present any permit or authority to sell the chainsaw when requested, prompting her immediate arrest, the report stated.
Confiscated during the operation were a Vivo mobile phone, chainsaw engine, chainsaw plate, improvised toolbox, a genuine P1,000 bill and buy-bust money consisting of a genuine P1,000 bill and seven bogus P1,000 bills.
The police is preparing the filing of a complaint against the suspect for violation of RA 9175 or the Chain Saw Act of 2002 in relation to Sec. 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
