Police seizes narra flitches abandoned along Virac river

A stockpile of narra flitches was confiscated by the Virac police last week after it was found abandoned along a river in barangay Sogod Simamla last week.

Barangay captain Ferdinand Aguilar called for assistance from the police after he learned of the pile of illegally sawn and undocumented lumber at 12:05 PM of Nov. 27, 2024.

Personnel led by PSMS Jumel Morales, together with officials from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) headed by Forester I Alex Nierva, proceeded to the scene to verify the report.

The team recovered eight pieces of narra lumber with an aggregate volume of 128 board feet and a total market value of P19,228.50.

The police turned over the confiscated flitches to the DENR-PENRO personnel for proper disposition after the scaling and documentation.
