Police officers in seaborne patrol arrested two residents of Palumbanes island allegedly engaged in illegal fishing in the sea off the sitio last week.
Caramoran police personnel led by PMSg Ryan Bien were aboard a motorized banca patrolling the town’s territorial sea along Maqueda Channel when they caught Roque delos Reyes Bonifacion, 34, and Bong Atienza Garcia, 42, while catching fish with the use of an air compressor at about 5 PM of Aug. 3, 2024 in the sea off barangay Toytoy.
The law enforcers recovered in the suspects’ possession a speargun, propeller, wooden paddle, rolled compressor hose, compressor tank, motorized engines, anchor, rolled nylon, a fuel container and their blue motorized banca.
The suspects were apprised of their constitutional rights and subsequently brought to Pandan, District Hospital for their mandatory physical/medical examinations. They are now in custody of the station after undergoing booking procedures and documentation for proper disposition.
