Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) collared a 24-year-old suspected drug pusher in a buy-bust operation that went down in Virac población last week.
The entrapment operation against illegal drugs went down at high noon of April 13, 2023 in barangay San Roque where Prince Joshua Sorrera Gianan was handcuffed after trying to sell shabu to an undercover PDEA agent.
Said to be included in the provincial drug watchlist, Gianan yielded seven (7) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets wrapped in bond paper and containing white crystalline granules believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride.
The PDEA report approximated the street value of the confiscated illegal drugs at P105,000.00
Also seized as evidence were a for-hire tricycles with body number 3317 that Gianan used in the transaction and the bundle of one genuine P500 bill and replicas used in the transaction.
The operation was mounted and implemented jointly by PDEA Catanduanes Provincial Office led by assistant provincial officer Agent Edward Kenn Ampongan, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 5 Catanduanes, Virac Municipal Police Station and the Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) under the supervision of PDEA Provincial Officer IA1 Arlene Galiza and with the overall guidance of the PDEA Bicol Regional Director, Director III Edgar Jubay.
“The fight against illegal drugs will be unwavering in the province of Catanduanes as we are gearing towards a drug cleared island province. The joint intelligence agencies will be working on the personalities revealed by the suspect,” Agent Galiza, said in a statement.
Separate criminal charges for the sale and possession of dangerous drugs in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2003 are set to be filed against Gianan, who is reportedly a jobless resident of barangay Danicop where he has a live-in partner.
