Joint elements of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last week arrested a tricycle driver in Virac for possession of shabu in a court-ordered search at his house in Virac.
Raymund Salvacion Posada, 32, yielded four sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride in the anti-illegal drug operation conducted by PDEA Catanduanes Provincial Office headed by Agent Arlene Bonavente Galiza, PNP Regional Drug Enforcement Unit – Catanduanes, led by PLtCol Arnold Ventura, Jr, Catanduanes Police Provincial Intelligence Unit – Drug Enforcement Unit led by PLtCol Josefino Titong, Jr, and Virac Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit led by PLtCol Robert Kevin Caparroso, with the overall guidance of the PDEA Regional Director, Director III Edgar Jubay.
The search at Purok 7 in barangay Lanao last April 1, 2023 at 2 AM in the morning was covered by a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Executive Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada.
Authorities claimed that the tricycle driver was making an extra living in selling illegal drugs.
The drug evidence was brought to the PDEA Regional Office in Legazpi City for laboratory examination while the case for possession of dangerous drugs in violation of Republic Act 9165 is now being prepared for filing against the suspect.
“The fight against illegal drugs in Catanduanes will be relentless. We have close coordination with the different intelligence agencies in the province to monitor those who are still involved in the illegal drugs trade and we will not falter in making them answerable to the law and making the island province of Catanduanes, a drug cleared province,” says Agent Galiza, who was recently installed as provincial officer of PDEA Catanduanes.
