The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), has completed 209 sub-projects in Catanduanes with a total grant of P63,745,430.00, benefiting 42,738 households in 2022.
The DSWD’s accomplishment in the island province is part of the 1,358 sub-projects funded with a total grant of P742,895,485.60 that benefited 319,725 households in the entire Bicol region.
The sub-projects were identified through DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS’ planning process with the conduct of Participatory Situational Analysis (PSA) and community consultations to respond to the needs of the community.
Among the projects were: barangay halls (3), boat (1), bridges (11), footpaths (55), handwashing stations (3), Capacity Building (25), Cash-for-Work (412), community center (1), health stations (16), IEC activities with provision of goods and communication device (63), day care center (1), disaster/pandemic response (24), flood/river control (16), isolation/quarantine facilities (289), livelihood equipment/building/center (15), livelihood training (1), pre and post-harvest facilities (7), roads (180), small scale irrigation (2), telecommunication equipment/service (149), training and learning centers (2), and others (51).
“To ensure the functionality of the sub-projects, a sustainability evaluation is conducted six months after the sub-project completion and every year thereafter,” he elaborated.
The evaluation test is administered by the Multi-Stakeholders Inspectorate Team composed of staff from selected members of municipal and barangay local governments (LGUs) and community volunteers.
