Thanks to the Talino at Galing ng Pinoy (TGP) Partylist, a Virac high school that was ravaged by super typhoon Rolly in 2020 is now protected against future storm surges.
Last week, TGP Congressman Jose Teves Jr. led the blessing and inauguration of the P32-million Slope Protection Project that now surrounds all but one side of the Antipolo National High School campus.

In his first public event since the recent elections, Teves expressed his satisfaction that the project has been received with much appreciation not only by the teachers and students of the school but also the people of the six barangays in the area.
He said he will join Congressman Eulogio Rodriguez and other elected officials of the province in developing the island through similar programs and projects.
To the applause of ANHS faculty, he disclosed that he has filed a bill asking the national government to give a laptop to each public school teacher and that he would continue seeking ways to help them.
Teves also said that he would refile a bill pushing for cheaper WiFi rates in the nation that would reduce current rates from P8 to just P3.
Present during the June 28, 2022 turnover ceremony were DepEd Catanduanes Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ma. Luisa dela Rosa, outgoing PBM Lorenzo Templonuevo Jr., Councilor Giovanni Balmadrid, ANHS Principal Josalie Tonio, PTA president Ma. Luisa Santelices, DPWH project engineer Lowie Tonio, Antipolo del Sur chairman Moises Clemente Jr., Antipolo del Norte Chairman Jacinto Clemente, Casoocan Chairman Alexander Guerrero, Igang Chairman Rony Clemente, Pajo Baguio Chairman Jaime de Leon, and Pajo San Isidro Chairman Jessie Talan.
Rev. Fr. Eduardo Zafe, parish priest of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, officiated the blessing of the project.
On Nov. 1, 2020, the school sustained heavy damage during typhoon Rolly, destroying its multi-purpose building and unroofing two school buildings just a day after the turnover of a recently repaired three-story building.
TGP Rep. Teves requested the funding for the P32 million project, which consists of a retaining wall built on sheet piles girding two sides of the school compound, with the paved road on top now serving as a boulevard for the residents and students.
