PSA Catanduanes to conduct National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS)

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the 2022 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS). Enumeration period will be on 02 May to 22 June 2022.

This survey is the 12th in a series of national demographic and health survey conducted every five years since 1968, which aims to collect data on marriage, fertility levels, fertility preferences, awareness and use of family planning methods, breastfeeding, child mortality, maternal and child health, knowledge and attitudes regarding HIV/AIDS, women empowerment, domestic violence, and other health-related issues. The 2022 NDHS will involve interviewing respondents from randomly selected households, and within selected households, women who are 15-49 years old. The information which will be gathered in the survey will help the government monitor and evaluate population, health and nutrition programs.

A total of 15 barangays with 352 households province-wide will be the sample of the said survey, which will utilize android tablets in data collection will allow the PSA to take a big step into an IT-driven tool to significantly reduce time for data processing. Three Statistical Researchers and one Team Supervisor will be involved in the data collection activity.

Moreover, the PSA assures its respondents that all information collected from them shall be kept strictly confidential. Section 26 of Republic Act 10625 stipulates that individual data furnished by the respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys and censuses of the PSA shall be considered as privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.

The PSA may release data gathered from surveys and censuses only in the form of summaries or statistical tables, in which no reference to an individual, corporation, association, partnership, institution or business enterprise shall appear.
