The case of Thomas, as presented in the Gospel last Sunday (the story of the doubting Thomas), is a world-class case of bad timing. What other term can we think of to describe it? After days of hiding, for fear of the Jews, Thomas snaps and went outside the walls of their security. He just wants to see the world, what it is like after the death of Christ. Maybe he just wanted to see for himself what happened to those who despised and insulted Christ, if they were still alive or if they burned at stake for their blasphemy committed directly against the Son of God.
After a few rounds down the street, he decided to come back to the company of the other disciples crouched in fear inside that little room. He thought they would be envious of him for his courage to go out and for facing the possibility of getting caught by the Jewish authorities. But no such thing ever took place and it was even reversed! He just missed the chance of seeing what the other disciples just saw, the Risen Christ! How foolish of you to go out! You just missed the great chance to see Christ again! He heard this words in his mind, whether it was actually uttered by the other disciples or not.
Just to save his face from further damage, he countered their claim and uttered his words of disbelief: “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” From that moment on, he became Thomas, the doubter.
Our world today is filled up with so many people who easily believe in many things, even in those negative things which are obviously inserted into our minds in order to mislead us from finding out the truth about this chaotic situation that we are faced with. We just accept them without much thought even if we have that feeling that we are being deceived by these demons and most of them are very powerful in our land.
Maybe what we need are people like Thomas, who requires proofs and evidences before giving the final nod on things. I really have second thoughts writing this one because my personal inclination is to just believe right away even if there were countless times already when I was really deceived and ended up crying in my lonely room. As they say in the Filipino language: “Maraming beses na akong napagtaksilan, kaya please lang, tukso layuan mo na ako!”
Seriously, I do believe in people right away and without much ado. At the end of the day, if they really intend to do me harm or put me in an unlikely situation, it will always be their loss and my advantage. However, with the way things are going on right now in our society, I am considering of setting aside this attitude and be more cautious in the future. As I have mentioned, there are a lot of demons in our society today. Some of them were sent straight from hell, some others were simply inflicted by that demon from hell because his demonic acts are so contagious than the present virus. Still some others were transformed by the situation that we are all in… they simply lost their taste and love for life, they just lost their sanity and also lost their trust in our God, who is love.
Our country will face, once again, the chance for us to choose our leaders. It is a chance for us to improve our lives, if we will really choose the right persons to lead us, or it can be a catastrophe for our country if we elect those disciples of Satan again. There is no point in explaining further as to who to choose because only the fools will choose leaders who are UNIted in a TEAM of losers and those who hatched their plans in hell. I only know ONE candidate for the topmost position in our government, who is qualified to lead us all, and she is a woman. A God-fearing woman with an utmost respect for human life and dignity. She is clothed in Pink.
It has been quite a while since I stopped watching news on TV, the newspaper and through the internet. My reason for doing so is that I do not have enough rooms in my life for negativities and all that. I do not have the luxury of time in this world and I am well aware of that. I will die one day, so I decided to simply enjoy life and enjoy that peace that can only come from Christ. Right now, all I want to do is to believe and never doubt.
Yes, I believe that God is a God of love and He will always protect me no matter what. I know people are afraid of this Covid thing and they are locking down their life until the time I do not know when. For me, I will continue what I used to do, drive my car or motorbike to my heart’s content and write for as long as I can, do my everyday tasks as a priest because I am just starting to enjoy doing them, and make a lot of calls to people I love and assure the of my love and prayers. All these is because I believe with no doubts at all that my God is not stupid to let me down… doing so is a contradiction and I do believe that God cannot contradict Himself. If He is my God of love, then all He can do is to love me because He is My Lord and My God!
