PSA conducting Feb. 2022 LFS

The Philippine Statistics Authority is conducting the monthly Labor Force Survey (LFS) this February 2022. A total of 96 sample households in six (6) sample barangays will be interviewed in the province by Statistical Researchers from Feb. 9 to 28.

The monthly LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households that gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It will be an abridged version of the quarterly or the regular LFS and will utilize the core questions of the regular LFS with additional questions related to the Covid-19 pandemic to generate the core labor and employment indicators including relevant indicators for the Covid-19 recovery program. The conduct of monthly LFS aims to provide high frequency statistical information on the Philippine labor market to better understand the current situation of employment and the economy of the Philippines during the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.

Results of November 2021 LFS shows that the country reported an employment rate of 93.5% which is the higher compared to the reported employment rate of 92.6% in October 2021. Unemployment rate reported a 6.5% which is lower compared to the reported a month ago of 7.4% while underemployment rate reported an increase of 0.6% or from 16.1% in October 2021 to 16.7% in November 2021. The labor force participation rate (LFPR) in November 2021 was placed at 64.2 percent, equivalent to 48.64 million Filipinos 15 years old and over who were either employed or unemployed.

The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the survey emanates from R.A. 10625. Like any other surveys undertaken by the PSA, the data to be gathered in the said survey are for statistical purposes only and will be published in summary forms. Information obtained from the respondents are held STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and are not used for investigation, taxation and law enforcement purposes and are not be divulged to any person except authorized PSA personnel acting in the performance of their duties.
