DILG urges LGUs to support Red Cross membership drive

Local government units nationwide have been enjoined by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to facilitate enrollment to the Philippine National Red Cross Membership Program.

In Memorandum Circular No. 2021-076, Secretary Eduardo Año asked local government to support the PRC National Membership and Fund Drive by facilitating the enrollment of its interested officials and employees.

All individuals, ages 5 to 85 years old, regardless of status, can become a Red Cross member, the DILG chief said.

The program offers coverage for accidental death, disablement and dismemberment; unprovoked murder and assault; accidental medical reimbursement; burial benefit (accident); and; hospital daily allowances for a maximum of 60 days.

The coverage depends on the membership categories and fees: Classis (ages 5-25 years old), P60 membership fee; Premier Bronze (ages 5-65 years old), P150; Premier Silver (ages 5-65 years old), P300; Premier Gold (ages 5-65 years old), P500; Premier Platinum (ages 5-65 years old), P1,000; Senior (ages 66-80 years old), P300; and, Senior Plus (ages 81-85 years old), P350;

The PRC Membership Program sustains the life-saving programs of the organization and aims to encourage the entire population to be Red Cross members, instill the value of giving and sharing for the benefit of the most vulnerable, create a database of major corporate and individual partners and committee pool of Red Cross volunteers, and generate funds to sustain the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross.
