Caramoran farmer killed in Christmas Day stabbing

Caramoran police authorities arrested a 51-year old man in barangay Datag East less than three hours after he stabbed to death his own father-in-law for still unknown reasons.

Barangay Chairman Ricky Idanan identified the victim as Arnulfo Bernal Tuldac, 59, a farmer, and his alleged attacker as his own son-in-law, Ramon Iglesia Francisco, a widower and also a farmer.

The village official said he does know what prompted Francisco to stab his father-in-law but admitted that the suspect was under the influence of intoxicating liquor at the time. Both Tuldac and Francisco also lived in separate houses.

According to the police, while the Tuldac family was preparing to sleep at about 8 P.M. of Dec. 25, 2020, they heard a loud thud at their door. Arnold went to the door and when he opened it, he was stabbed by Francisco.

The victim, bloodied from a single stab wound on the lower part of his left chest, was rushed to the nearest hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Responding operatives from the Catanduanes 2nd Provincial Mobile Force and the Caramoran police apprehended Francisco at 10:30 P.M. after a brief pursuit.

He is now under custody of the Caramoran police while a criminal case for homicide is being prepared for filing against him. (With a report from Catanduanes Island Media Club)
