Tattoo artist yields shabu in Virac buy-bust operation

An anti-illegal drugs operation by different police units in Virac led to the seizure of 20 sachets of shabu and a gun from a 30-year old tattoo artist last week.

Joint elements of the Virac municipal police station, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit/Regional Special Operations Unit-Regional Intelligence Division Catanduanes (RPDEU/RSOU-RID) and the Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit (CATPIU), headed by Lt Noe Balantes, conducted the buy-bust operation at 6:40 P.M. of June 9, 2020 at Gogon Sirangan along the road bordering the river.

The suspect was identified as Jonathan Magtangob Toledo, a resident of Concepcion, who is included in the PNP Directorate for Intelligence’s database on illegal drugs in Catanduanes. .

The team confiscated as evidence 20 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, including the sachet that was the subject of the sale to the poseur-buyer, and a Smith & Wesson Cal. 357 along with other non-drug items.

Toledo remains in custody of the Virac police pending the filing of criminal charges against him for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms Regulation Act.
