Four persons, including a 55-year old businessman from Bato, were apprehended by the Catanduanes police last week pursuant to warrants issued by local courts.
On June 9, 2020, joint elements of the Bato police station and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Catanduanes (CIDG) collared businessman Jaime Vergara Besa, Jr., in barangay Sipi.
His arrest was made on the basis of the warrant issued by Virac Municipal Trial Court (MTC) Presiding Judge Myra Mangente, in connection with the criminal case filed against him for Falsification by Private Individual of a Public Document, with bail for his temporary liberty set at P25,000.
A day earlier, Virac police personnel apprehended three persons in connection with separate criminal cases filed against them.
The police identified those arrested as construction worker Joy Bajaro de Jesus, 44, and Melchor Francisco Minao, 52, both of San Vicente, who have been charged for violation of Section 8 of Presidential Decree 449 or the Anti-Illegal Cockfighting Act of 1974 before MTC Virac, with bail set at P5,000 each; and, Vanessa Arroyo Sorreda, 34, of Gogon Centro, who has been charged for violation of Sec. 10(a) of RA 7610 before the sala of Presiding Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 42, with bail recommended at P80,000.
