Taking time off from their COVID-19 quarantine duties, personnel of the Baras municipal police station and the municipal government jointly released a sea turtle accidentally recovered by two fishermen last Sunday morning.
A concerned citizen called the police at about 7:00 A.M of April 26, 2020, to inform three fishermen from barangay Tilod – Pedro Tatad, Freddie Oraa and Victor Bernardo, were fishing at the municipal waters just off the coastal village when they accidentally found the sea turtle, an endangered species, with a length of 20 inches and a width of 20 inches.
Immediately, Baras MPS personnel led by officer-in-charge Capt. Mark Leslie Barlis, together with municipal agriculturist Noel Odoño took the sea turtle into custody and checked if it had injuries.
After ascertaining that it was all right, the sea turtle was released back to its ocean habitat.
