The 2025 edition of the annual Christmas Cheers extravaganza in the capital town of Virac will be the longest ever at 15 days, starting from Dec. 9 until Dec. 30.
This was announced last week by the organizing committee following two recent meetings at the Office of the Mayor to discuss preparations and finalize the schedule of nightly performances.
Hablon Dawani of the Catanduanes State University will perform on the opening night following a brief ceremony in which Mayor Sinforoso Sarmientio Jr. and Diocese of Virac Bishop Luisito Occiano are expected to deliver messages.
The rest of the scheduled shows are as follows: Dec. 10 – Immaculate Conception Seminary Academy and Cavinitan Elementary School; Dec. 11 – Virac Pilot ES; Dec. 12 – San Vicente ES and Capilihan ESl Dec. 13 – Balite ES, Batag ES, Buenavista ES, Calampong ES, Palta ES, Palta Saday ES, Magnesia ES and Valencia ES; Dec. 14 – Palta, Magnesia and Hawan (PAMAHAWAN) High Schools;
Dec. 15 – Juan M. Alberto Memorial ES; Dec. 16 – Gogon ES, Calatagan ES and Calatagan HS; Dec. 17 – Taytay ES/Catanduanes Colleges; Dec. 18 – Virac Central ES; Dec. 19 – Buyo District Schools; Dec. 20 – Catanduanes National HS; Dec. 21 – Antipolo ES, Pajo Baguio ES, Pajo San Isidro ES, Palnab ES and San Isidro Village ES; Dec. 22 – Christian Polytechnic Institute of Catanduanes; Dec. 23 – Star Learners
The post-Christmas schedule has yet to be determined, as the committee has yet to secure the commitment of representatives from the provincial government, Virac LGU, Talino at Galing ng Pinoy (TGP) Partylist and other prospective sponsors.
Aside from the local government, the other sponsors of the yearly Yuletide celebration are: Cathedral Parish, Marriage Encounterers, Catanduanes Tribune, Catanduanes Tulungan Club, Mountain Cares & Hikers, Catanduanes Contractors Association, Abuab Auto Supply, and First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO).
