An abaca stripper is now recuperating at the Caramoran Municipal Hospital after he sustained three hack wounds on the head in a violent incident last Aug. 2, 2025.
In its report, the Catanduanes police identified the victim as Ferdinand Tabuzo Idanan, 55, married and a resident of sitio Otsenta, barangay Sabloyon.
According to the police, suspect Gilbert Pitallano Aguirre, 35, single, an abaca stripper from sitio San Jose, Mabini, was drinking liquor with other persons at the house of Jose Siroma at sitio Otsenta at about 9:58 PM when Idanan arrived and got into an argument with the suspect.
During the spat, Idanan punched Aguirre, causing the latter to fall to the ground.
The suspect got up, went nearby to his nipa house, got a sharp bolo called “minasbad” and returned to the drinking session.
Approaching from behind, Aguirre hacked Idanan at the back of his head.
The victim tried to defuse the situation but Aguirre chased him and hacked him two more times at the back of the head.
Concerned citizens and relatives brought the victim to the hospital while responding police personnel arrested Aguirre who is now under the custody of the Caramoran Municipal Police Station.
