A head-on collision between two motorcycles led to the death of one driver and injuries to another driver and his backrider in San Andres town last Sunday evening, July 6, 2025.
The local police identified the fatality as auto mechanic Ricardo Sollegue Satairapan, 51, single and a resident of Catagbacan, who drove a red Suzuki Smash 115 motorcycle.
Also injured were truck driver Frederick Nazareno, 32, who was driving a white Raider FI 150 on which a 15-year-old Grade 9 student, having the same surname as the driver, was riding pillion.
Investigation disclosed that at about 7:40 PM, Nazareno was driving fast, overtook a tricycle in front of Catagbacan Elementary School and unfortunately lost control of the vehicle.
It encroached on the opposite lane where it collided with Satairapan’s motorcycle, with both vehicles crashing to the pavement.
Satairapan sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Francis Charles Andaya at the Juan M. Alberto Memorial District Hospital.
Nazareno and his minor family member also suffered head injuries and multiple abrasions.
All three individuals involved in the mishap were not wearing safety helmets while the two drivers did not have driver’s licenses.
