Over 2,000 vacancies up for grabs at 9th Abaca Festival Job Fair on May 26

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Provincial Government of Catanduanes is pulling out all the stops for the “2025 Abaca Festival Trabaho Para sa Catandungueño Job Fair,” set to take place on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Virac Sports Center.

PESO Catanduanes Manager Gerry S. Rubio announced that as of May 16, their office had already solicited 2,246 job vacancies, both local and overseas, from 19 participating local employers and Department of Migrant Workers-accredited recruitment agencies.

This job fair is one of the highlights of the annual Abaca Festival, underscoring the province’s commitment to providing meaningful employment for its residents.

Many skilled positions are waiting to be filled, catering to various interests and qualifications. Job

seekers can explore opportunities such as:

  • Technical/Skilled: Junior Graphic Designer, Driver, Warehouse Personnel, Mechanic, Truck Helper, Heavy Equipment Operator, Pipe Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Painter (Car Body & General), Car Body Repair, Installer (Dry Wall), Carpenter, Operator (Metal Press), Worker (Metal Painting & Injection Forming), Welder (Semi-Automatic), Panel Beater, Spray Painter, Boiler Maker, Auto-Electrician.
  • Administrative/Clerical: Distribution and Sale Personnel, Accounting Staff, Cashier, Merchandiser, Bagger, Community Development Officer (15), Junior Accountant, Internal Auditor, Bookkeeper, HR Officer, Pump Attendant, Sales Department Head, Sales Prompter, Billing Assistant, Store Supervisor, Order Management Specialist, Assistant Outlet Designer, HR Generalist, Audit Staff, Purchaser, Encoder, Clerk Service.

Several employers are also expected to announce additional vacancies on the day of the job fair.

Job seekers are encouraged to come prepared with multiple copies of their resume or curriculum vitae, and valid identification cards, and dressed appropriately for interviews.

Meanwhile, apart from the immediate job openings, the “2025 Abaca Festival Trabaho Para sa Catandungueno Job Fair” will also feature pre-employment, business/livelihood, and skills development orientations. Attendees can gain valuable insights from key government agencies. Mr. Anjo T. Evangelista, Sr. Analyst from SSS Virac Branch, will guide participants through the SSS Registration Process and explain the various SSS Benefits. Mr. Jay Asuncion, Sales and Customer Support Assistant from Pag-IBIG Fund Virac, will provide information on Pag-IBIG Membership and its benefits. Ms. Leony Paz E. Austero, Social Insurance Officer II from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, will cover PhilHealth Registration, Membership updates, and insurance policies.

For those interested in entrepreneurship, Ms. Maria Belma Q. Escueta, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industries – Catanduanes, will discuss building an entrepreneurial and innovation mindset. Dr. Archangel T. Rodriquez, Provincial Director of TESDA Catanduanes, willpresent Scholarship Opportunities for Skills Training. Finally, for individuals considering overseas employment, Ms. Mayan P. Trilles, OIC Programs and Services Division of OWWA Region 5, will conduct a Pre-Deployment Orientation and detail OWWA services.
