Today the entire world is rejoicing meeting the New Year with the usual noise and merrymaking. Another year has passed us by and here comes a new year full of hopes and dreams. We have New Year’s resolutions every year even if we do not really fulfill them seriously. We are optimistic that this year, our life will be better and much easier to bear. New Year’s Day celebration is more of an evaluation for each one of us. If we were not able to do quite well in the past year, then we resolve to beat the odds and exert extra effort to make everything better this time. The world could have been an incredibly beautiful place to live in had we only took our resolutions seriously.
Another year has passed, leaving us with a lot of memories, both good and bad. There were difficulties in our life for the past year and the good thing is that we are still here, fighting the battle called life and existence. The past year left us with lots of thoughts and promises which we expect to develop and improve for the new challenges that await us this New Year. Hopefully, we learned all the lessons of life that the past year had taught us.
Since my elementary years, I have been making new year’s resolutions. My elementary teachers would always ask us students to make one every January. I am good at making new year promises but they always proved to me that promises are really meant to be broken. For fifty-two long years, I have not fulfilled any of those resolutions which I seriously made for myself. I am an ordinary human being and much less of a superhuman because I always falter and fail.
I know I will always fail but I still love making those resolutions at least to remind me how sinful and how unworthy I am of the gifts that God would continuously give me each year. Every year, I still struggle to correct those things which I made erroneously and every new year I also try to rise from my sinfulness and imperfections. I may always fail but at least I have tried. You can also try making one for yourself if you have time. This is just a suggestion, hoping that it will elicit a positive effect on you, especially in the way you deal with other people. Well, this may not be a good suggestion for candidates in these coming elections because you might just end up in disappointment because most of you are not really determined to fulfill your resolutions.
New Year is a time for us to evaluate ourselves and a time for us to dream dreams for us and our children. It is a time for us to make this world a better place to live in. The world is still good and beautiful but, unlike before when everything is good, now we must be cautious on what to look at and where to go. There are already places, peoples, things, and events that can never be twisted since they had become havens of Satan. What we need to do is simply avoid them and really know where we are going. The place where we are going is not determined by any other thing, people, or situations in life but only by ourselves. We are still the heads of our own and we are the ones who are the main architects of our future and our destiny. Our success will always depend on the choices we make every day.
This New Year, let us focus on our goals and direct our efforts in trying to realize our dreams and ambitions. Let us continue to pursue that joy that only our oneness with God can give us. We have all the reasons, being Christians, to hope for goodness and happiness in this earthly life. Let us shower the Joy that this New Year brings.
So, where are we going? We are going to be happy, and we are going to live our lives with utmost contentment because we are going to God. I have a lot of plans and dreams this New Year and I am excited that the dates set for those plans and dreams will take place as soon as possible. I still do not know what will happen until those plans and dreams are realized. But whatever comes out of those plans and dreams, I know I will be able to cope and bear anything because I am prepared to face both the positive and negative aspects of those things. This is one of my positive sides, I know how to accept whatever it is that life has in store for me.
And so, let us all be positive thinkers as we begin the New Year. There are problems, misfortunes and other crazy things that may lie ahead of us but, if we have the faith that can move mountains coupled with sacrifice and hard work, I know that we will always emerge as winners in the game we call life and existence! Thank you 2024 and welcome aboard to the 2025 journey! Happy New Year to everyone!
