A laborer in San Miguel town was arrested after handing over a sachet of shabu to an undercover police officer in an anti-drug operation in barangay Paraiso last week.
Joint elements of the San Miguel police led by officer-in-charge PLt. Col. Louie dela Peña, together with the Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit apprehended Gerwin Bagadiong Tapas, 31, also known as Tibo and a resident of barangay Progreso, last Dec. 5, 2024 at 8:42 AM.
Seized from him was the sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride that he sold to the poseur buyer, two more sachets containing the same substance, a genuine P500 bill used in the operation, and a piece of white paper that contained the sachets.
The drug evidence was sent to the police crime laboratory for examination and confirmation.
Tapas will be charged with the sale and possession of dangerous drugs in violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
