Farmer hacked over lost carabao tether

An argument over a lost lead rope of a carabao led to a hacking incident involving two farmers in Bislig, San Andres town last week.

The police report stated that sometime before 7:30 AM of Oct. 15, 2024, the suspect, Jesus Samudio Vargas, 46, quarreled with Larry Angeles Vargas, 53, over the lost rope used to tether the carabao.

Jesus became enraged and used a bolo to attack Larry, inflicting multiple hack wounds on the latter before he managed to escape.

He was brought by hos family to the Juan M. Alberto Memorial District Hospital but was later referred by attending physician Dr. Aldeim Boñales to the Eastern Bicol Medical Center in Virac for further treatment.

Jesus was placed under arrest when he voluntarily surrendered to the police station.
