The Catanduanes police removed one more name from the Bicol region’s top 10 Most Wanted with last week’s arrest of an abaca stripper accused of rape in Viga town.
According to the report, joint elements of the Viga municipal polie station, the Regional Special Operating Unit 5 (RSOU5), and the Catanduanes 1st Police Mobile Force Company (Cat 1st PMFC), apprehended the accused, identified only as one “Ando,” 53, last July 13, 2024 at 8:25 PM.
He was collared on the basis of the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court of Virac in connection with four counts of statutory rape, with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, the Bato police recently nabbed three men for burning and throwing away air filters along the national highway in barangay Sipi the other Wednesday (July 10).
Residents of the barangay called the attention of the police, with a team led by Maj. Kenneth Ding Gutierrez catching the trio in the act of disposing of the used filters, which still had residual oil, and burning the same, causing dark, foul-smelling smoke to envelop the area.
The police report identified the suspects as Mike, Jo and Junior, who are junk scavengers. They will be charged for violation of Section 48 of Republic Act 9003,
