Ten officials of the British Red Cross and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society visited Catanduanes the other week to learn about the Philippine Red Cross Catanduanes Chapter’s implementation of its livelihood program in a calamity-stricken village.
The PRC Board of Directors headed by Chairman Gabriel Tejerero welcomed the visitors last March 14, 2024 at the chapter headquarters before the group traveled to Pagsangahan in San Miguel town to learn about the PRC’s methodologies, strategies and best practices in the implementation of recovery livelihood program.
The visiting Red Cross and Red Crescent Society delegation was composed of UKAID Match Dhaka deputy director and project manager Md. Rezaul Karim, Barishal Unit assistant director A.S.M. Golam Kabir, Dhaka NHQ Finance & Administrative Officer Md. Harun-or-Rashid Bhuiyan, UKAID Match Barishal interim assistant program manager Md. Shahadat Hossain Tanu, NHQ Dhaka International Relation Department staff officer Monira Parvin, Barishal Unit Red Crescent Youth Md. Ashikul Alam Abir, Partnerships and Field Coordination senior manager Saiful Alam, Country Cluster Manager Gen de Jesus, Programme Coordinator Magda Lorena Rios Mendez, and PMEAL Advisor Clarence Sim.
Barangay Pagsangahan is one of the beneficiaries of the Community-Managed Livelihood Program of the Philippine Red Cross in 2020 in its Typhoon “ROLLY” Recovery Operations in Catanduanes.
PRC – Catanduanes Chapter was among those selected for the field visit and learning session as it has substantial experience in the implementation of livelihood programs.
The delegates were also personally welcomed by Governor Joseph Cua, Vice Governor Peter Cua, San Miguel Mayor Francisco Camano Jr., the Barangay Council of Pagsangahan, and the officers and members of Pagsangahan CMLP and HLA beneficiaries.
